100 Word Writing Challenge 2018

As part of our Work On Writing in Daily 5 during Term 2 we have been challenging ourselves to writing engaging pieces of writing using only 100 words.  Each week we have a different prompt and we plan and write our stories or piece of descriptive writing.  We then 'polish' these and are sharing them below with an authentic audience.

Use these 5 words in your piece of writing

Prompt: ...Although I ran quickly, I still wasn’t making progress...
Topic: The Dark Hallway

It was a dark night.  My room was dimly lit by a candle, after the power punched out due to some car hitting the power station and cutting the power. I heard a door slam outside, probably Dad coming home late from his shift. But the door slammed again, harder. I leaped out of bed with heavy caution. I went down the hall to investigate what was going on. As soon as I exited my room to the hallway, I saw a dark ghastly figure standing there. It scared me.  I ran. Although I ran quickly, I still wasn’t making progress towards my parents room.
